During these times of uncertainty, gaps in information and what can feel like constant change, it can be really difficult to adapt and cause feelings of anxiety and or stress.
Anxiety is related to fear, one of the five major negative emotions. One way of working with anxiety is to view it as a relationship which is dependent upon time. Consider this, if you stepped out of time or took time away would anxiety still exist?
If we are feeling anxious about something specific such as giving a presentation on zoom or teams, imagine yourself 15 mins after your presentation has taken place successfully. Just experience those feelings and emotions and hold onto them. Then, notice the difference in how you feel.
We might be feeling anxious about going back to work, imagine how you will be feeling 12 months later after going back to work successfully? Just experience those feelings and emotions and hold onto them. Then, notice the difference in how you feel.
A helpful way of working with anxiety is to treat it as a warning from your unconscious mind to pay attention. So my last and really my first question for you is what do you need to pay attention to?
