Find Your Personal Strengths In 2025

Personal Strengths, asking self questions

Taking time at this time of year to pause and reassess ourselves, can lead to powerful insights and learnings on the latest version of ourself.

What are Personal Strengths?

We all have them! Personal strengths are what makes us unique. Those particular skills and traits of what we do really, really well. Those best qualities which make you, you.

Not knowing or being aware of this can be a barrier to moving forward in career, relationships and life. Knowing and being aware of your strengths enables you to find direction and clarity for personal growth and ultimately get there quicker.

It can be a little awkward for some when we talk about personal strengths. Do you find when you hear this question, do you welcome it or does it fill you with dread?

Spending some time on our personal strengths is part of the investment and commitment to personal growth that we can make, particularly if you are in leadership or management or a business owner.  A key part of this process involves identifying and understanding our personal strengths. When combined with our personal values in the chosen context this makes a powerful proposition in understanding who we are.

With the understanding that you have, you know what makes you stand out from others, this can be really useful in career when going for new jobs for example.

How To Identify?

Here are some great questions in the context of career or work for you to make a start.

What are you really good at? Understanding what you are really good at is a great starting point. So think about what you are really good at. What is almost effortless and comes naturally for you.

At work, consider your working relationships. What is it that those who you work with are really getting from that relationship? (You may want to compare your answers with feedback from some of your colleagues.)

In work, what is the most attractive part of working with you?

Why should people work with you? (eg in your team or business) Why do they choose to your client or why do they buy your services from you and not someone else? Sum this up in one sentence.

Where do you find you spend most of your time and attention?  Is it more on work, career, personal development, family, or relationships? What might be the amount of time you spend if it was a percentage and what would be your desired percentage?

When you were having the most fun with your work, what were you doing?

How would you describe the people you are most comfortable with?

What part of your work brings you the greatest sense of joy and accomplishment?

What do you consider is your ‘superpower’ at work?  In what situations do you use it the most?
