Declutter Your Life To Be Spring Ready in 9 Steps

Spring is everywhere and it’s all about growth! In order to grow, we first need to create space. Beyond just tidying up your home, garden, office or garage, a good declutter is an internal reset. Think of the last time when you did this and how did you feel after? That’s right, when you clear your physical world, you clear your mind. Forget the perfect ‘before and after’ photo for social media, focus on the impact of how you feel and think.

Ready to start? Here are my top tips to declutter your life, inside and out.

1. Create the Master List to Declutter

Whilst our brains are brilliant for having ideas, they are terrible at keeping hold of them. Make a list of every unfinished task, nagging commitment, or ‘open loop’ in your work and home life. Just by getting it out of your head and onto paper immediately reduces the load and makes the difference.

2. Clear Your Physical Junk

Your outer world is the mirror of your inner world in many ways. If your workspace, house or garden is chaotic, your mind will likely feel the same. Tidy one area today. You’ll find that as the clutter starts to go, clarity returns almost instantly

3. ‘Clean Car’ Philosophy

A clean car helps you feel more intentional and in control of your journey. Also, removing unnecessary weight makes you feel lighter and potentially your car saving fuel and mental energy.

4. Be Ruthless With Your Declutter

This is non-negotiable. If you haven’t used an item in six months, chances are you don’t need it. Time to be honest and strong. Sell it, donate or bin it. Let go of the old paperwork and all those ‘just in case’ items to create space for new opportunities.

5. Organise Your Life Admin

Digital clutter is just as draining as physical mess. Spend time bringing order to your photos, emails, and electronic documents. Create systems that support you rather than drain. Take a moment and just imagine the calm you’ll feel when you can find exactly what you need in seconds.

6. Reset Your Desk Space

This is where it all happens. Your desk area sets the standard for the day to day. Remove anything that doesn’t serve you (I know it’s tough!). The cleaner the desk, the clearer the path to productivity and success.

7. Complete, Delegate, or Cancel

Review your Master List. For every unfinished task, you now have three choices:

Complete it: Finish the job and close the loop.

Delegate it: Give it to someone better suited for the task.

Cancel it: Let it go entirely.

Closing the loops helps your mental plumbing, stopping the mental drips that tire you out.

8. Enforce Your Boundaries

Own your time and stop overcommitting just to please others. Saying “no” to things that are not aligned with what you want, just like how a car recharges from it’s braking. Generate your power.

9. Prioritise You

You are in charge of yourself and you are in charge of your results. Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), offers a way to navigate the daily challenges using our powerful mind body connection. By removing the mental clutter, with the right nurturing and nourishment, you can take charge and manage your internal ‘system’ to navigate those external everyday challenges with confidence.
